Spanglish in Texas


I lived in Miami for two years and Spanglish became my primary language. We speak Spanglish at home too. In fact, in our house, you hear English, Spanish and French all the time.

Spanglish?


The word "Spanglish" is overused. Spanglish is not the same thing as bilingual. Spanglish involves code-switching, were specific phrases are borrowed whole from English and used within Spanish conversation as whole units. For example, "Que pasa, my sweetie calente?" or "Fui estudiando quando oye el cabron y pienso, what the fuck!"

Below is a video that is not an example of Spanglish. It is simply bilingual. (Thalia looks yummy).


This next one IS REAL SPANGLISH. I love Spanglish, like I said, I speak it at home.
