Sambo Creek
While driving down the highway along the North Coast of Honduras, I came across this sign. I was shocked at the name. My companion Michelle didn't know what "Sambo" meant. When I explained it to her, she guided me into the town, which was a primarily Black town with English and Garifuna speaking residents. The town was named by racist white Dole Fruit Company owners many years back.
