[23 miles off the coast of Gaza, 15:30pm] - Today Israeli Occupation Forces attacked and boarded the Free Gaza Movement boat, the SPIRIT OF HUMANITY, abducting 21 human rights workers from 11 countries, including Noble laureate Mairead Maguire and former U.S. Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney (see below for a complete list of passengers). The passengers and crew are being forcibly dragged toward Israel.

"This is an outrageous violation of international law against us. Our boat was not in Israeli waters, and we were on a human rights mission to the Gaza Strip," said Cynthia McKinney, a former U.S. Congresswoman and presidential candidate. "President Obama just told Israel to let in humanitarian and reconstruction supplies, and that's exactly what we tried to do. We're asking the international community to demand our release so we can resume our journey."

According to an International Committee of the Red Cross report released yesterday, the Palestinians living in Gaza are "trapped in despair." Thousands of Gazans whose homes were destroyed earlier during Israel's December/January massacre are still without shelter despite pledges of almost $4.5 billion in aid, because Israel refuses to allow cement and other building material into the Gaza Strip. The report also notes that hospitals are struggling to meet the needs of their patients due to Israel's disruption of medical supplies.

"The aid we were carrying is a symbol of hope for the people of Gaza, hope that the sea route would open for them, and they would be able to transport their own materials to begin to reconstruct the schools, hospitals and thousands of homes destroyed during the onslaught of "Cast Lead". Our mission is a gesture to the people of Gaza that we stand by them and that they are not alone" said fellow passenger Mairead Maguire, winner of a Noble Peace Prize for her work in Northern Ireland.

Just before being kidnapped by Israel, Huwaida Arraf, Free Gaza Movement chairperson and delegation co-coordinator on this voyage, stated that: "No one could possibly believe that our small boat constitutes any sort of threat to Israel. We carry medical and reconstruction supplies, and children's toys. Our passengers include a Nobel peace prize laureate and a former U.S. congressperson. Our boat was searched and received a security clearance by Cypriot Port Authorities before we departed, and at no time did we ever approach Israeli waters."

Arraf continued, "Israel's deliberate and premeditated attack on our unarmed boat is a clear violation of international law and we demand our immediate and unconditional release."

101 uses sought for ex’s wedding dress

I wish I had thought of this. Ideas of what I could have done with my ex-wife's wedding dress are flooding my mind. I think the best thing I could have done with it is to pay a prostitute to wear it for a night, fucking every man that offered her 10 bucks. I think it would have been appropriate. (And about that naked picture of her on her honeymoon in Cancun, the one that her current husband posted on the Internet?)

RE: 101 uses sought for ex’s wedding dress

Kevin Cotter never imagined the day would arrive when he’d be flossing his teeth with wedding-dress fabric. Or using a wedding dress as a yoga mat. Or straining pasta with wedding-dress mesh.

But, of course, life takes wildly unexpected turns sometimes. And when your high school sweetheart and wife of 12 years abruptly walks out the door, leaving you stunned and single in your mid-30s, it can send you reeling.

That’s what happened to Cotter last July. He turned to close family members to help him get through the earliest — and most difficult — phases of adjusting to singlehood for the first time in his adult life...

Ximena Sariñana: From the Concert I Was At Last Night

I had the pleasure of attending a concert by Ximena Sariñana last night. This is a video from the actual concert I was at. I was about 15 feet from her. It was a very small venue. The only unfortunate thing was that some of the women at the concert were loud and obnoxious. Apparently, Ximena has many loud and rude lesbian fans. The other fans were just fine.

Ximena is pretty well known in Mexico. Here are a few of her videos...

A Personality quiz about your religious and spiritual beliefs

So here's another test I just took. It ranks the similarity between one's beliefs and various religions. For the most part, I think it is spot-on (for me):

Your Results

The top score on the list below represents the faith that Belief-O-Matic, in its less than infinite wisdom, thinks most closely matches your beliefs. However, even a score of 100% does not mean that your views are all shared by this faith, or vice versa.

Belief-O-Matic then lists another 26 faiths in order of how much they have in common with your professed beliefs. The higher a faith appears on this list, the more closely it aligns with your thinking.

How did the Belief-O-Matic do? Discuss your results on our message boards.

1. Mahayana Buddhism (100%)
2. Taoism (97%)
3. Hinduism (94%)
4. Unitarian Universalism (93%)
5. Neo-Pagan (92%)
6. New Age (89%)
7. Theravada Buddhism (85%)
8. Liberal Quakers (83%)
9. Scientology (83%)
10. New Thought (78%)
11. Christian Science (Church of Christ, Scientist) (76%)
12. Jainism (67%)
13. Orthodox Quaker (65%)
14. Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants (62%)
15. Secular Humanism (60%)
16. Sikhism (57%)
17. Reform Judaism (48%)
18. Baha'i Faith (43%)
19. Seventh Day Adventist (33%)
20. Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons) (30%)
21. Nontheist (30%)
22. Mainline to Conservative Christian/Protestant (22%)
23. Orthodox Judaism (22%)
24. Eastern Orthodox (19%)
25. Islam (19%)
26. Roman Catholic (19%)
27. Jehovah's Witness (15%)

Test: http://www.beliefnet.com/Entertainment/Quizzes/BeliefOMatic.aspx

Type of Anarchist Test

Interestingly, this test matches the previous one in terms of my classification:

Anarcho-Communist

75%
Anarcho-Syndicalist

65%
Anarcho-Primitivist

60%
Anarcha-Feminist

40%
Anarcho-Capitalist

40%
Christian Anarchist

25%

However, it also shows that I am somewhat in the middle of the road as an anarchist. I see some good in all the variations. I think this is very consistent with my personality. I tend to be flexible. It also reflects my attitude about feminism. I believe in equality and oppose radical feminism, for the most part, because I see it as female-supremest.

New Wave Night

This evening I'm posting some of my favorite New Wave songs, from years back.

David Byrne and Selena

Though today's songs are primarily New Wave, I had to throw this one. It is unique in it that it is a fusion of David Byrne of the Talking Heads and the late Selena. There is nothing like it out there. It is New Wave with a Flamenco flavor.

Talking Heads

The Talking Heads started much of what we call New Wave/Post Punk. They remain one of my favorite bands of all time.

B52's

The B52's have to be my favorite of my favorites when it comes to New Wave. I saw them in concert in California.

Psychedelic Furs

Another of my favorites from the 1980s. I saw them in concert in 1985.

Hot Child In The City

This borders on New Wave, but not quite there. Anyway, I loved this song back in high school.

Modern English

One hit wonder: I Melt With You, by Modern English.

Bow Wow Wow

Bow Wow Wow was one of my favorite bands back in 1980. I wanted this chick.

This next song is too un-politically correct to be accepted today.

Adam and The Ants

I actually saw Adam and the Ants in concert twice, back around 1981. We had second row seats. I remember all of the girls taking off their panties and throwing them to him. Adam is manic depressive. That makes me like him all the more.

The Human League

I was briefly a fan of Human League. They failed to evolve, so I got bored and moved on. Man, that was sooooo long ago.

Lene Lovich

Tonight's theme is New Wave.

I was an all-out Lene Lovich fan when I was in high school.

Now independent thinkers are considered diseased by psychiatry

It's only natural that the field of psychiatry seeks to bring as many people as possible under its umbrella, since doing so increases the opportunity of psychiatrists to make money. This is exactly analogous to expanding the definition of "terrorist" such that the FBI, CIA, and Homeland Security can justify their growing budgets.

RE: Now independent thinkers are considered diseased by psychiatry

Psychiatrists have been working on the fourth revision of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) and, in it, they hope to add a whole slew of new psychiatric disorders. Unfortunately, many of these disorders are merely differences in personality and behavior among people.

The new edition may include "disorders" like "oppositional defiant disorder", which includes people who have a pattern of "negativistic, defiant, disobedient and hostile behavior toward authority figures." Some of the "symptoms" of this disorder including losing one's temper, annoying people and being "touchy".

Other "disorders" being considered include personality flaws like antisocial behavior, arrogance, cynicism or narcissism. There are even categories for people who binge eat and children who have temper tantrums...
