The Smiths

I know nothing about the type of mind Morrissey has (from a clinical point of view, thought it is obvious that he is a genius), but no one's lyrics better describe the states of mind that bi-polar people experience.

If you want to know what it is like to suffer from depression, listen to the songs below.

I've heard it said many times that depression is an "attitude" or that those suffering from depression are "weak." Nothing could be more off. Depression hurts, physically. If anything, life with depression is a sign of strength, for just existing is like carrying a mountain on your back. Suicide is what happens when it is no longer possible to continue carrying that mountain. Depression is to suffer from existence itself.

Next, the following videos describe well a manic state of mind, a mind free of inhibition. It's fun, but it get you in trouble, lots of trouble.

Many people have the impression that a manic state is an "up" state in an emotional sense. Sometimes it can be "up" in terms of energy but "down" in terms of emotional affect, as in this next song. Such a state is called "agitated" and that is the worst state of all for bi-polar people.
